Electromatic G5420 - Gretsch Orange

The G5420T Electromatic Hollow Body screams traditional Gretsch design, with its single-cutaway body, sound-post bracing and elegant bound f-holes.

The new “Black Top” Filter’Tron pickups scream too, giving the G5420T a strong voice to go with its distinctive Gretsch identity. The pickups are descendants of Baldwin-era Filter’Tron pickups, bringing plenty of punch and phenomenal twang.

Other 5420 features include a maple neck; bound rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and "thumbnail" pearloid inlays; silver plexi pickguard; three-position pickup switch; classic “G” arrow control knobs; rosewood-based Adjusto-Matic bridge and Bigsby-licensed B60 vibrato tailpiece; vintage-style open-back tuners and chrome-plated hardware.

We have the G5420T in Orange, Black, Aspen Green and Fairlane Blue. Either way, it’s a great Gretsch guitar.

Also available left-handed, without the Bigsby tailpiece.

Why We Like Gretsch Electromatic Guitars

The Gretsch Electromatic nameplate has been around for many years. Now, it signifies the company’s value line of guitars built in Korea. The guitars are very well made, the electronics and pickups are reallygood and quality control is excellent (we’ve had several players say these are better-made guitars than some of the old NY-made instruments). In short, we’re happy to recommend these great-looking, vibey, very affordable Gretsch guitars.

We really like Gretsch’s classic looks and distinctive tone—and nobody else makes a Bigsby look as cool. With the Electromatic’s recent improvements, including “Black Top” Filter’Tron pickups and the addition of new center-block models, you can’t find a better, more economical way to get “that great Gretsch sound.”
