This LSL Saticoy Strat-style guitar is lightweight, easy to play and has a nice, subtle aging—not hard-ridden, just subtle finish checking, fading white plastic and less-than-shiny metal parts.

The thin nitro finish is a straight-up red—not candy apple or fiesta, just simple old 'red' (the Fender people would call it Dakota Red). The neck is a “barely V” shape, very comfortable, with aged toner and skunk stripe. The fingerboard is rosewood with a 9.5” radius.

Pickups are all hand-wound LSL single-coils—they sound just like an old Strat should, complete with 5-position switch to get every last wonderful bit of quack.

Like every LSL, it was all made by hand—just the way you’d make it, if you could. As a matter of fact, company owner Lance Lerman says, “We build them all for ourselves but then we have to sell them.” You can tell.

Why We Like LSL Guitars

Imagine you unearthed a stash of electric guitars made in California in the 50s: lightweight ash or sugar pine bodies; thin, nitrocellulose finishes; hand-wound pickups; hand-cut bodies and hand-shaped necks—pretty much hand everything. You’d be as excited about them as we are.

LSL is a small company. They work on each guitar until it’s finished. They don’t use serial numbers—they give each guitar a name. And not surprisingly, they sound great and feel like that old guitar your uncle has owned since high school. For everything you get, they’re reasonably priced. Maybe that’s why they never stay in the store for long.
